Our Saturday Escape

On Saturday it was a whopping 50 degrees outside, so we decided to get outside while the sun was shining. We drove to Spring Creek Reservoir which has a really nice little path that goes around the entire lake. Well, to our surprise, we found that the lake was frozen over and the path was buried in about 3 feet of snow! Needless to say, our outdoor excursion was a little colder than we had hoped, but it still felt good to get outside! Here are some pictures:

Brad showed Lainy how to eat snow and she loved it!

We thought Lainy's tiny footprints were cute...

Our Little Artist and other News

Lainy has discovered coloring! I think it's so stinking cute!
We're both sick (again) so we've been spending a lot of time coloring and watching movies. Here is Lainy watching "Boo" aka Monsters Inc.Today we're feeling better. Brad hasn't been sick, which is really a blessing because he has mid-terms this week. Anyway, keep him in your prayers!

A Doctor in the House

Ladies and gentleman, we have a doctor in the house! (Or at least one in the making.)

Today Brad received a few medical supplies he will be using as a doctor. We ordered the equipment a few weeks ago and though it was expensive, it is really high quality and should last him for a long, long time.

Here is what he got:
a stethoscope
a blood pressure cuff
a reflex hammer
two tuning forks (to test hearing)
an otoscope (to check ears)
and an ophthalmoscope (to check eyes)

Yay! We're pretty excited around here.

This semester Brad is precepting a General Practitioner named Dr. Ting. He's going to be on call with Dr. Ting, so he could see some interesting stuff, i.e. baby deliveries, ER visits, etc. It's shaping up to be another great semester in the education of Dr. Hansen!

Nursery

Our baby went to nursery for the first time yesterday.

She's not technically 18-months-old yet. She won't be until the end of the month. But we thought we'd break her in slowly.

After one minor melt-down, Lainy was good to go. She was being so good that we didn't even stay with her for very long. We just...walked out and left her there.

I checked on her a few times over the next few hours. I peeked through the window while they were eating their snacks. She was sitting up at the little table with her crackers and her little cup. I saw her sign "please" when she finished and wanted more.

Later, I peeked through the window again and saw her sitting on the floor listening to the lesson.

When I went to pick her up after church, she smiled when she saw me, waved good-bye to her teachers, and came over for me to hold her.

I watched all this and thought, "When in the world did my little baby grow up so much?!"

I talked to Brad later and told him I was thrilled she's in Nursery, but that I hoped her leaders know what a treasure they've just acquired.

I hope they noticed how polite she was when she said "please". I hope they thought it was cute when she'd take their hand and lead them to a toy she liked. I hope they noticed all the cute little things she did because I would have noticed if I had been in there with her.

Oh, growing pains. I know, I'm pathetic, right? What can I say, I love my little girl.
Congratulations on this milestone little Lainy! We're so proud of you!
