The kids were great in the car most of the time. (We had Lainy, Reece (2 1/2), and Benson (5 mos) all packed in the middle seat of our Subaru). They each had their little fussy moments, but it was nothing we couldn't handle. Well, until all three kids started screaming at the same time. They were completely past consoling and there was no place to stop for fifteen minutes! All Juliann and I could do was laugh.
The cabin is in a little cove on Kootenay Lake. The scenery is gorgeous! Though it was cold and rainy most of the time we were there, we had a lot of fun just relaxing.

Unfortunately, Lainy had a hard time while we were there. It was all due to one mean little 18-month-old girl. Poor little Lainy was bitten, pushed down, strangled, and all around just terrorized. I felt like some animal mother who had to protect my young from a predator as I tried to calmly keep this girl from killing my kid! I guess I didn't realize the affect this would have on Lainy until we got home and went to church. Lainy cried whenever a toddler came close to her. I'm afraid part of my sweet little baby, who has always been quick to smile and make friends, may be gone. I guess all I can do is shower her with all the love I can at home and hope it's enough when someone is mean to her. It's hard though! Stinkin' mean little kid. . .
So we had a great time, saw some beautiful scenery, strengthened friendships, and learned some life-lessons. . . not a bad trip!

Oh, how sad! Poor little Lainy! Were you hanging around a bunch of other people up at the cabin? I'm just trying to figure out where this mean little girl came from. And where were her parents!? I can't believe they just let her do that! I'm glad you had a good time despite Lainy's bad experience with a bully. A girls weekend away sounds like fun!
Sorry I left out details! We were at the cabin with Juliann's grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousin, and her cousin's little girl. Her cousin didn't do anything about her daughter. I couldn't believe it! She bit Lainy and all her mom did was say sweetly, "No we don't bite". That's it! It was a little frustrating, but I didn't feel like it was my place to punish the little girl. . . I don't know, maybe I should have.
Sounds like a fun trip, despite Lainy being terrorized. It's the worst when the mom doesn't even do anything! Hopefully she will recover before she has to go to nursery. :)
Wow! What an eventful weekend. I am sorry to hear that Lainy had a rough time with the bully. I hope that she re-adjusts back to her sweet self again. I am so glad that you are finding friends and things to do. It sure makes things easier to adjust to when our husbands are so busy. You guys are awesome.
Love the pictures...I have always wanted to see South Western Canada. How beautiful!
Give Lainy an extra squeeze for me! As for the bully kid...it's totally the worst thing as a parent to see someone being mean to your own child and not tear their head off. When I am in that situation...I just leave or do whatever I can to keep my child away from the meanie.
Bring Lainy down here...David will give her lots of love! :)
